My story at LEONI
I started working at LEONI in 2016 as an Accountant. My duties have changed every year, becoming more and more ambitious. I began with posting basic invoices, progressed to fixed asset management, leasing, and eventually took on the responsibility of preparing VAT returns – a task that I find very fulfilling, and I am glad to have been trusted with it. A year ago, I was promoted to the position of Senior Accountant.
How did I become an accountant? I graduated with a degree in Finance and Accounting, but I never thought about working in finance initially. My aspirations were to become a cardiac surgeon, detective, or tour guide. I honestly believed that being an accountant didn't suit my temperament, given my energetic personality and constant flow of ideas. However, in the fourth year of my studies, I got my first job, partly related to accounting, and I gradually moved in that direction.
My job
I always start my day at 6 am, I get up at dawn and get to work. I like this time of peace, the first rays of sun, no matter whether I work from home or in the office. At LEONI, we work partly remotely, and additionally, we have flexible working hours, based on mutual trust, so I do not have to be available at strictly defined hours. The first thing I do after turning on my computer is checking my email. I almost always find messages that require action and an immediate response, and since I really like solving problems and looking for new solutions, this is an exciting time of the day.
Later, a well-deserved tea in the company of colleagues from the office. Then I book invoices, check the correctness of documents, prepare reports and declarations that must be ready on a specific day of the month.
Noon is the time for the lunch break, which we spend in the canteen. This is our time to talk about life outside of work.
I usually end my working day at 2 p.m. and I have time to spend it with my family, go to the gym, go on bike trips or laze around with a book.
Even though in the survey probably 90% of respondents would answer that accounting work is boring, it's not for me because this job involves not only recording invoices, which can actually be monotonous, but also analysis - and that's something! I am fascinated by the fact that I can analyze, improve, organize and create something. I have my own small contribution to creating my position and work tools.
My view of LEONI as an employer
I chose to work at LEONI mainly because of its close proximity to home. It only takes me a few minutes to get there, allowing me to start the day promptly. During the interview, I was very impressed by the professionalism and positive attitude of my future supervisor – I immediately knew that I would enjoy working here.
LEONI in 3 words? Stability, Development, Professionalism
What advice would I give to someone starting work at LEONI?
If you are wondering whether to become an accountant or work at LEONI, the answer is definitely YES! The decision to become an accountant can be the best one of your life. It is a profession that will always be in demand. The dynamically developing world of finance, constantly changing laws and regulations make it practically impossible to fully automate this position. Contrary to appearances, in our department... THERE IS NO BOREDOM.
